Selling is... Cool. Very Cool. I really do believe, when I hawk my “wares” (when I present a seminar or write a book), that I'm doing more than buttering the bread and paying the property taxes. While I don't think I routinely change the world for large numbers of people, I know that I give a damn about what I'm doing – that I'm excited about delivering my product-service-experience.

Note well this cri de coeur offered by Apple Computer boss Steve Jobs: “Let's make a dent in the universe.”

I think the notion that selling can be... “universe-denting”... is what keeps us motivated, and able to look at ourselves in the mirror.

We are All Salespeople Now

Want to get my dander up? Try saying, “Hey, I'm a finance guy. I don't 'do' sales.”

No! No! No!

Success = Sales Success.

Everywhere.

Period.

We're all in sales.

All the time.
